so i'm back in my room, insanely early, from the 90s dance. good old *nsync and britney spears and spice girls, good times. hehe =) now I have to write my expos essay draft, study for life sci (i.e., learn everything that i slept through), do all that mun stuff, etc etc. but i'm glad i went out anyway, because today I realized that life is too short to spend it tiring over the same old, same old. I'm tired of worrying, obsessing, over-analyzing the same things, time and time again. I'm tired of trying only to fail, i'm tired of waiting for that someone to call, and i'm tired of being exhausted by life. so now i have to get to work, but i'm doing it knowing that there are better and more important things in life than this.

hope you are all enjoying yourselves in all that you are doing :)

I guess today is poetry day! (Although I should be studying for AP Calc test... sigh...)

Poem #1: [From the screenplay "Before Sunrise"]

daydream delusion

       limousine eyelash

oh baby with your pretty face

       drop a tear in my

       wineglass

look at those big eyes on your face

see what you mean to me

sweet cakes and milk shakes

       I¡¯m a delusion angel

              I¡¯m a fantasy parade

I want you to know what I think

don¡¯t want you to guess anymore

you have no idea where I came from

we have no idea where we¡¯re going

lodged in life like branches in a river

       flowing downstream

       caught in the current

I¡¯ll carry you you carry me

that¡¯s how it could be

       don¡¯t you know me

don¡¯t you know me by now

Wow deep thinking. Okay.

Poem #2: [18th bday present from some "anonymous" friend ]

So there is this girl April,

who is beyond tr¨¨s skillful.

I admire her like no other

and see her as my girly brother.

She¡¯s so awesome to have as a friend

that I¡¯m sad to see her senior year end.

We used to write anonymous lover letters

while sitting through some French lecture,

then make grass bouquets during break

just for Jahn-nee-fehr¡¯s sake.

Although sometimes we¡¯d see her and smile,

and then laugh at her short (physical) profile;

She¡¯ll take it all in and pretend we¡¯re all Huckleberry Finns.

Because she was already so frickin awesome back then,

I have no doubt she¡¯ll be on CNN.

YAH. THE END. HAPPY BDAY MAWN!

Thanks to Joyce, Teresa, and Florence for the great May 13th surprise! ChongMing Dao was so much fun!

Back from The Hague!!! THIMUN 2006!!!

So, random thoughts:
*The conference itself* Student Officer. GA4: 'Special, political, and decolonization.'  Derek and Gulru!! Sybille, Joonas, Tara, Matt, seeing Monika and Hee-Jin again. Crappy room ('hallway' or 'dungeon,' take your pick). Summit Foyer. The 'revolution' (I never want to hear 'motion to divide the house' ever again!) Djibouti and his apple. Egypt and his drawing. Sri Lanka and his metaphors. UNCHS (I think?) and the 'points of personal privilege.' (Poor guy. It's not his fault that he's soft-spoken). The admin (oh dear). My messed up manual. My gavel! Skipping lunch. French fries. Opening and closing ceremonies. The flags. Dancing on stage. The auction.

*Outside* Centrum. The tram (I miss Tommy and Billy and our random tram ride... sigh). H&M. Ti Amo. Burger King. Dudok. Stroopwaffels! Chocolateee. Turkish pizza. Lasagna. Apple pie! Casanova!! Shopping! "Gossip Girl." Cosmo. The Dance. 'Borrowing' Ben's Bacardi (oh wow, all Bs - coincidence). Dancing. Getting 'caught.'  The music. The smell of pot or whatever, I don't know. Random hot guys. Sex talk.

*Inside* Rooming with Jeanette! Our mini-fridge. MTV and random music videos (like the guy in the elevator with the skeletons... oh freaky. And yes, we skipped over the porn haha). Breakfast (salmon!). Stupid pay-computer and stupid weird messed-up keyboard. Heels. Cosmopolitan and other various magazines. Sex talks.

*Traveling* Duty free shopping. "Good girls go to heaven, bad girls go to Amsterdam." The plane. Sharing with ISB from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. Customs. Sleeping. Icky airplane food. Bitter lemon! Uno on the way there, movies on the way back. Being "too noisy."

I think I lost my watch in the hotel room. Poo.

*Random quotes*
Derek: "I'm GA4!!" (Took me a whole day to figure that one out...)

Gulru: "Yes Mr. Cooper, Come on Mr. Cooper, Let's go Mr. Cooper... (etc.)"

Guest speaker on Tuesday. As he droned on and on about peacekeeping operations:
Me, whispering: "Derek, make up a question to ask him."
Derek: "Uh... why?"
Me: "Because I sure am not listening to this..."

Before Casanova, group talk about (what else?) sex:
Anne: "Brother and sister...they're so weird...he calls her 'baby'..."
Jon: "I wonder what she calls him then."
Me: "She calls him daddy..."
*cue laughter*
(Yes, The Hague is corrupting. sigh. haha )

Before Casanova again:
Me: "Come on, come on, let's go..."
Anne: "Come... cum cum... *laughs*"
Me: "Huh?"
(Okay yes, I did eventually figure out what she meant... oh the education experience of THIMUN... )

After Casanova:
All the girls: "He [Heath Ledger] needed to take his shirt off more. Sigh."

During debate, part 1:
Djibouti take the floor: "Finally, ladies and gentleman, I'm back!"
Me: "From where?"
*room bursts into laughter*
(Oh dear, so out of order...)

During debate, part 2:
Sri Lanka: "You see, ladies and gentleman, this resolution is like a miniskirt... long enough to cover the basics, but short enough to keep it interesting..."
(Like we haven't heard that one before... But then again, he's the only delegate I've ever met who could compare a resolution to a miniskirt, McDonald's, a burger, a bar, and a family in the ghetto, all at once...  And even a transparent miniskirt during plenary... oh dear..)

During debate, part 3:
MOTION TO DIVIDE THE HOUSE! (aah my nightmare)
Gulru: "Popularity can get you anywhere."

During debate, part 4:
UNCHS: "The delegate would like to ask..."
POINT OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE
(Poor guy...)

During debate, part 5:
To Sri Lanka and Syria: "Shall we rock-scissors-paper it?"

Friday, GA plenary, Gulru and me on stage, Don (admin boy) walks by.
Gulru: "psst. PSST!"
Don: *no response*
Gulru and me: "damn."

Friday night, dance, part 1:
Me: "Come on, Wan Jin, go dance with some girl, how about that one? Or that one? Or that one?"
Wan Jin: "Nooooo... I'm too scared to..."
(Now imagine that multiple times with Wan Jin and Chris - okay, Hansen and Ben are spoken for, but still.)

Friday night, dance, part 2:
Me: "Check out those two over there in the corner..."
Sonia and me: "Eeeeewwwww..."

Friday night, dance, part 3:
Our SAS guys: "April!! What are you doing??"
(You don't need to know the rest. haha.)

Saturday, plane from Frankfurt, part 1:
Wan Jin, Ben, Hansen, and me watching 'Old Boy.'
Me: "OMG what the hell...why??"
Ben: "Stop asking so many questions geez!"
(Great movie but seriously disturbing. Seriously. )

Saturday, plane from Frankfurt, part 2:
Hansen: "Wow your robot looks seriously wicked."
Me: "Random parts all the way. haha."
(Then we watched my robot win once and then get beat up twice. sigh haha)

*Please excuse my tendency to misquote and my mismatched memory haha  I get the gist of things though...*

My only regret: Not being there to chair my committee in Friday's GA plenary. But oh well. And also not being able to spend so much time with the team, because of chairing duties. But oh well!

No one really reads xanga anymore, but oh well  Just wanted to relive THIMUN (PTD is settling in!!)

If I ever figure out how to post pictures, you'll be the first to know.
